HOPS (Humulus lupulus)
Properties: Sedative, hypnotic, antimicrobial, antispasmodic, astringent & Bitter tonic
Health benefits: Has a marked relaxing effect, useful for insomnia, hyperactivity, stress, restlessness, depression, shock, anxiety & nerve pain. Flavonoids in Hops mimic the activity of the female hormone estrogen & may alleviate hot flashes & night sweats. Stimulates the appetite. Useful for cardiovascular disorders & prevent hardening of the arteries. It is also used for toothaches and ulcers.
Infusion: 1 tsp/ (0.5g) in 1 cup of boiled water. Infuse in covered container for 10-15 min. One cup per night to assist with sleep.
Precautions: Should not be used by people who take antidepressants.
